Showcase Tacoma 2006

Showcase Tacoma 2006 was a new arts festival founded to show off Tacoma’s growing arts scene.  It was a collaboration between many local arts organizations including Tacoma School of the Arts and Metro Parks Tacoma. Phedra Redifer was our Metro Parks contact and the Showcase Event Coordinator. Kareem Kandi programmed all of the musical entertainment.

Terry Plancentia put together a tent which showcased local glass artists just off of the main stage at Tollefson Plaza. We lit the individual pieces with a variety of pin-spot and mini par lights, which was beautifully designed by Kelly Doran.

We had two stages, the main stage at Tollefson Plaza and One at the end of the University of Washington Campus. We built the stages, provided the lighting and sound. For the event Kris Jensen and Christina Hughes staffed the main stage. The UWT stage was staffed by Kelly and SOTA interns.

We also provided generators and power for several glass artists and the food court.

Tacoma School of the Arts Students painted some great sidewalk chalk art that you won’t believe unless you see it. Check some out on our photo page here.

There was a very cool dance performance performed around the plaza. For a gallery of that performance go here.
